Alan moved to Cornwall over 20 years ago, drawn by the spectacular coastline and because of his love of sailing. He keeps his small sailing boat off Flushing Sailing Club, and each summer, sets off to explore the coastline and islands that inspire his painting.
He spent most of his life trying and failing to paint in watercolours, then had a ‘eureka’ moment 2 years ago when he found an old canvas and some acrylic paints in the garage. He found that the acrylics were much more forgiving than watercolours, and he also really enjoyed the freedom of painting on a larger canvas.
Alan seems to be drawn to seascapes. He can’t imagine why!
